Many SmartTV remotes come with App shortcut buttons at the bottom as a hot menu:
These buttons typically include:

Now, it’s possible to remap most of those buttons to launch any other app instead of the default one. To do this, you need to enable 'ADB Debugging' mode and enter specific command-line instructions.
